Sarah Palin tells us about Paul Revere

We know stupidity crosses party lines, but when anyone is this inept at basic American history, they need to be shown the door away from anything political. Just watch for yourself:

Transcript of Sarah Palin blundering through an explanation of who Paul Revere was for internet posterity:

He who warned uh… the… the British that they weren’t going to be takin’ away our arms. Uh, by reading those bills. And um, making sure as he’s ridin’ his horse through town to… send those warning shots and bells that uh, we were going to be secure and we were going to be free.

History teachers everywhere: ಠ_ಠ

I’m sure there’s some free internet lessons on Paul Revere suited to Sarah Palin’s learning speed.

UPDATE: I should have known reddit would turn this into a derping contest.

  1. Listen my children and you shall hear

The truth behind the midnight ride of Paul Revere

Now the mainstream media would have you believe

That our good friend Paul was a hero indeed.

But a Maverick has come forth

    To set the record straight

    Let’s start at the beginning

When Paul left his front gate.

    We thought Paul was heard

To warn Americans of the enemy

But it turns out dear Paul

    Was really our ‘frenemy’.

To the British did he march

    We now know, you see

    To warn of the colonists

    That wanted to be free.

    Nay did he yell

To warn of the Red Coats approach

    But rather he rang bells

And shot warning shots – what a dope.

    So thank you Ms. Palin

    Your bold statements are great

    Our education has failed us

But dear Sarah set us straight.

  3. Paul Revere’s own words fools. Seems she knows more than the media in Boston about history.

“I observed a Wood at a Small distance, & made for that. When I got
there, out Started Six officers, on Horse back, and orderd me to
dismount;-one of them, who appeared to have the command, examined me,
where I came from,& what my Name Was? I told him. it was Revere, he
asked if it was Paul? I told him yes He asked me if I was an express? I
answered in the afirmative. He demanded what time I left Boston? I
told him; and aded, that their troops had catched aground in passing
the River, and that There would be five hundred Americans there in a
short time, for I had alarmed the Country all the way up. He
imediately rode towards those who stoppd us, when all five of them came
down upon a full gallop; one of them, whom I afterwards found to be
Major Mitchel, of the 5th Regiment, Clapped his pistol to my head,
called me by name, & told me he was going to ask me some questions,
& if I did not give him true answers, he would blow my brains out.
He then asked me similar questions to those above. He then orderd me to
mount my Horse, after searching me for arms.”

    1. Holding up a sign to Sarah Palin or any other politician that says [CITATION NEEDED] is exactly what we need more of.

You quote a man who was for all intents and purposes an upstanding businessman who rarely had people question his character for legitimate reasons. And then go re-watch Sarah Palin answer that question with a shocking lack of oxygen being supplied to her brain and tell me you’d let her near the launch all missiles button.
