Spanking the TSA over porno-scanners

These days it seems almost everyone has an airport security horror story, or at the very least knows someone who has gone through a dignity-robbing experience courtesy of our reach-around security apparatus that fails in so many ways. The bumbling TSA has become a punchline for comedians, but the issue itself is no joking matter: human dignity.

But rejoice, the travelers revolt is at hand:

But the new pat-downs have prompted a growing backlash among pilots and flight attendants, civil liberties groups and security-weary passengers who say the touching goes too far.

“It’s more than just patting you down. It’s very intrusive and very insane. I wouldn’t let anyone touch my daughter like that,” said Marc Moniz of Poway, Calif., who is planning to accompany his daughter’s eighth-grade class from San Diego to Washington in April. “We’re not common criminals.”

[…] “Many people only fly around the holidays and may not be aware of the security changes,” Sodergren said. “I think once people are made aware of what is happening, they may have reservations about the new procedures.”

Another group launched a Web site, WeWontFly.com, and says it has gotten more than 70,000 hits per day since going online a week ago. The Web site asks passengers to say no to scans and pat-downs and for TSA to remove its “porno-scanners” and “gropers.”

People are fed up with the corrupt TSA, being led by the nose by “the naked-scanner lobby” which is small but well-connected. Now it’s time for the airlines and airports to push back against the TSA porno-scanners, because I seriously doubt they can financially weather a boycott of the holiday travel season while a few well-connected corporate executives, powerful lobbyists and the politicians who paid for the loathed scanners with our money are allowed to merely bypass the system by flying private jets to their pleasant vacation homes in gated paradise.

Janet Napolitano responds:

Face it TSA, you are losing the battle and the death blow to your porno-scanners will be dealt in short order. We’re gonna need you to go get a refund.

  1. There’s a good financial reason for insisting on running all those little children through the machines, at least for an adequately corrupt Federal government. And if you’re servicing enough preverts in the upper echelons of the Federal government, perhaps folks with titles like ‘Senator’ and ‘Congressman’, why, it can’t be a criminal act, any more than it’s a criminal act to run someone down if you are an investment banker.

  2. Commie Obamie and Nazi Napolitano are taking this country down. Napolitano put photo radar cameras with live streaming video all over Arizona. Call your congressional representatives and senators. Hold a protest.

  3. It should seem obvious to anyone who has lived in the USA for some time, that the government has been screwing us for years, now they just want to add foreplay to the mix.

Seriously, what kind of country have we become when we have to tell our government to keep its hands out of our underwear? Literally, that is what we have allowed liberty and freedom to atrophy to, a state where the government can take tax payers money and give it to the banks on Wall Street who have no legal right to tax payer funds, and a government that can demand to expose me to radiation and/or get my genitalia fondled by government employees.

Things have gone too far when they expect us to just roll over and whimper into our pillows while they rape us financially, emotionally and apparently, now physically.

Its go time boys and girls, if you believe in this nation, its time to push back and let the government know once again that they only govern with the consent of the people.

  4. I don’t always agree with you (thank God, that would be boring), but I have to tell you you are a great writer.
