Libertarian Party Convention Site Now Up

Shane Cory has just updated the LP Convention site, and it looks pretty good to me. He describes it as “light on content and heavy on graphics, just as any other billboard site.”

It looks like the theme this year will be “Uniting Voters”, which is vastly superior to the general oxymoronic unofficial theme of uniting individualists. Perhaps one outcome of this convention will be that we can actually begin some work on voter outreach, as opposed to libertarian outreach. If enough of y’all show up this year, it just might happen, too.

I like tasteful cigars, private property, American whiskey, fast cars, hot women, pre-bailout Jeeps, fine dining, worthwhile literature, low taxes, original music, personal privacy and self-defense rights -- but not necessarily in this order.

  1. I like it. Uniting voters is the biggest draw of the Libertarian Party as a third party. We can draw equally from social liberals and fiscal conservatives giving us the great chance of having a serious impact on election results.

  2. Personally, I like yellow, since it’s both a primary color (an alternative to red or blue, rather than a mixture of the two).

It also gives meaning to the color orange common to the Libertarian movement: many libertarians seem to think the proper center of libertarianism is the place generally labeled as the “right.” Personally, I’m more of a green libertarian (yellow plus blue), and think this an equally valid interpretation of the libertarian tradition.

Purple ought to be reserved for the hardcore statists. It is both the result of mixing Republican red with Democratic blue, as well as a color identified with royalty in ancient times.
