Congratulations Due to Lew Rockwell

Lew RockwellPress Action has started awarding reporters and commentators in the print, broadcast and online journalism communities. In their inaugural “Press Action Awards,” they have listed libertarian as their site of the year. From their citation:

Llewellyn Rockwell and the contributors to his site steadfastly oppose all U.S. imperial ventures., though, looks beyond issues of war and peace to publish articles on a wide array of topics that often delight, and sometimes annoy, the site’s many loyal readers. Honorable mention: and The Black Commentator.

Reporter of the Year: Jeremy Scahill
Commentator of the Year: William Blum

Congratulations to all of the people earning the new award, but especially to Lew Rockwell for all the work he does to advance the cause of freedom.

I like tasteful cigars, private property, American whiskey, fast cars, hot women, pre-bailout Jeeps, fine dining, worthwhile literature, low taxes, original music, personal privacy and self-defense rights -- but not necessarily in this order.

  1. It’s always hard tell which group or interest is being served in the Libertarian zone. Despite little or no electoral success party affiliates and think tanks often take on hostile tones and inferences based on hair splitting policy minutia. LRC is both Lew Rockwell and Liberty Reform Caucas. HoT and Strike the Root, Q&O gets another label and following altogether. While everybody jockeys for philosophical position little progress is made at electoral levels, failing to capture the imagination or success of the MoveOn folks on the ‘left’. Let’s hope the new year brings on at least one quantitative national success. As an upstate New Yorker and Libertarian there is often little hope or succor when your Senators are Schumer and Clinton and your party only got 17K votes in the last effort. I personally watch Democracy Now and read Lew Rockwell with the same relish towards defeating or countering power over my life. I hope the dude in suspendors holding a cigar works out.

  2. The Libertarian Party’s made significant strides towards electability in 2005 and we’re most likely only going to accelerate these trends in 2006. Go check out to see the kinds of things we’ve done towards this end.
