Bush Admin. wants Mandatory Web Rating

Bart mooningOnce again leading the idiotic charge down the slippery slope of censorship, the Bush administration, through Attorney General Alberto Gonzales is calling for web site operators posting sexually explicit information to place official government warning labels on their pages or risk being imprisoned for up to five years.

The types of sexually explicit information they include? Close-ups of clothed crotches:

The definition of sexually explicit broadly covers depictions of everything from sexual intercourse and masturbation to “sadistic abuse” and close-ups of fully clothed genital regions.

Bart Simpson mooning is definitely stepping over that stupid line… so jail me.

But what’s worse is that you know they’ll create some new crazy-assed Internet Communications Agency to send crotch-peddlers to the pokey if they don’t comply. But the kick in the Democrats nuts is that this was actually their idea back in the 1990s:

The Bush administration’s embrace of a rating system backed by criminal penalties is uncannily reminiscent of where the Clinton administration and a Democratic member of Congress were a decade ago.

Disgusting.

Update: Yeah, this is a dupe from a couple days ago. Sorry about that, I usually scan to make sure I’m not double-posting, so my apologies.
