Where Bush Gets it Wrong

Maybe George Bush is a pyromaniac at heart, but his speech from last Thursday juxtaposes interestingly with a warning from George Washington:

“By our efforts, we have lit a fire as well – a fire in the minds of men. It warms those who feel its power, it burns those who fight its progress, and one day this untamed fire of freedom will reach the darkest corners of our world.”
— George W. Bush, 2nd Inaugural Address

“Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.”
— George Washington

Remember, you can build a fire for a man to stay warm for a day, teach him to make his own fire and let him fend for himself, or just set him on fire and he’s warm for the rest of his life.

I've published HoT along with about 300+ friends since 2002. We're all Americans who are snarky and love our country. I'm a libertarian that registered Republican because I like to win elections. That's pretty much it.
