Pentagon Wants Nuclear War

I find this amazing but the Pentagon has decided because they have the best damned intelligence in the world (remember Iraq) that they can nuke nuclear weapons and terrorist groups.

I would like to remind the Pentagon that a terrorist group is not a country it is a small group of people probably spread all around the globe. It would provide as much logic as dropping a nuclear bomb in Tim McVeigh’s home town.

“The Pentagon has drafted a revised doctrine for the use of nuclear weapons that envisions commanders requesting presidential approval to use them to preempt an attack by a nation or a terrorist group using weapons of mass destruction. The draft also includes the option of using nuclear arms to destroy known enemy stockpiles of nuclear, biological or chemical weapons.”

Imagine if we would have used this in Iraq. We knew where the stockpiles were we could have just nuked them and been done with it after all they worked with Bin Laden. I know there would be no evidence of nuclear weapons once we were done but has our intelligence ever failed us why would it now. If we would have used this in Afghanistan we would probably be more hated but once we killed all those civilians but Bin Laden would no longer be a threat.

We could use this on the upcoming war in Iran. After all it is like a bumper sticker I once seen “George Bush Four More Wars.”

  1. The part that interests me is:

…requesting presidential approval to use them…

That’s all they need huh? Just present some ‘slam dunk’ intelligence and off they go to nuke some unsuspecting populace… Nice.

    From the article:

The first example for potential nuclear weapon use listed in the draft is against an enemy that is using “or intending to use WMD” against U.S. or allied, multinational military forces or civilian populations.

Look for the “Axis of Evil” countries to suspiciously burst into flames sometime soon… I find it curious that the verbiage in the nuclear doctrine revisions reflect the mantras parroted by the Bush administration before, during and afte the Iraq debacle. At least they’re consistent…

  2. And what’s great is, a nuclear bomb would basically destroy any evidence of biological weapons and leave traces of uranium as “evidence” that there were nuclear weapons present!

Plus, you gotta love the fact that they can be bombed for “intendeding” to use weapons. Well fuck. WE have nuclear weapons and WE INTEND on using them to blow up everyone else’s nuclear weapons.

And thus, we secure our nomination and victory for the “International Hypocrite of Year Award” for 2006.

  3. Good point Rick. That kind of irration logic appears to be working at home, so why not use it abroad?

It seems more and more people are “guilty” of things they MIGHT do as opposed to things they actually did – even if they violate no one’s property.

  4. This reminds me of the concept behind the movie “Minority Report” where they had the police division for “PreCrime” which arrested people BEFORE they committed the act. Maybe Bush has a few mutants wired up in the White House basement telling him who will be attacking and when…

  5. Yeah, talk about “thought” police.

And yes people, I understand that if there is a clear and present danger that it’s better to take out capabilities rather than wait for the aftermath. However, this entire administration has lied about nearly everything, so what’s to stop them from nuking Iran and then fudging the facts (like the Downing Memo prior to the Iraq war) to give a warm and fuzzy story to the american public.
