LP Revamp: Upgrading from 1996 to 1998

LP revamp? Predictably boring and crappy (via Flash of Freedom).

As long as they’re saving money by skimping on competent designers, they might as well transfer the hosting to Geocities.

And… still no RSS, or a blog, or forums, or… well, just compare to the constantly updated GOP site and the 21st century DNC site and tell me that this doesn’t fail miserably to compete on aesthetics alone.

This is beginning to mirror exactly what happened in the Badnarik redesign fiasco.

UPDATE: Hold the presses, they have a blog… it’s bad, and it’s not obvious from the front page, but it’s a blog.

ANOTHER UPDATE: Looks like someone caught on that we were peeking, the site has been password protected now. But I have a screenshot.

  1. Good to hear from ya again…. I hope to be getting some updates from you pertaining to the new website.

  2. I’m guessing that the redesign did not solicit your feedback, beyond your initial communique? Too bad, if you ask me.

    Yours truly,
    Mr. X

    …meh…

  3. I’m starting to think you should find something else to focus your energies on. The LP is never going to give up control over their web site, and if they do, they’re going to get whoever they want to redo it (with predictable results).

  4. It looks like they’ve gotten tired of the criticism and protected the “beta version” of the site with a password.

The more I learn about the Libertarian Party, the closer they seem to the secretive bureaucracy they claim to decry.

  5. Stephen, have you asked for a password to access the new site? Before I go off the wall about the whole secrecy business, they MAY have a reason.

However, as a part of the Badnarik Web Team, you have a legitimate claim to invite yourself as a part of the process. Especially considering the current LP website.

I say you should ask for access before lambasting them. They probably don’t want every Tom, Dick and Harry to email them daily telling them how much their new beta site sucks.
