Dems Smear Roberts in False Ad; Repubs: “Stop Copying Us!”

NARAL/Roberts abortion adYou knew this was going to happen sooner or later. The scrubby finger of the dirty marketing arm (NARAL) of the Democratic Party has reared up its ugly head and decided to in essence just make shit up about Supreme Court nominee John Roberts:

An abortion-rights group is running an attack ad accusing Supreme Court nominee John Roberts of filing legal papers “supporting … a convicted clinic bomber” and of having an ideology that “leads him to excuse violence against other Americans” It shows images of a bombed clinic in Birmingham , Alabama .

The ad is false.

And the ad misleads when it says Roberts supported a clinic bomber. It is true that Roberts sided with the bomber and many other defendants in a civil case, but the case didn’t deal with bombing at all.

Of course, CNN has agreed to air the ads, because they are completely broke and ashamed of blowing Al Franken’s dog in order to get advertising table scraps from the nearly defunct Air America, so they will pretty much run any whack-ass bullshit ad that pays six figures and doesn’t include the words “girls”, “gone” or “wild” in the same sentence.

Not surprisingly, Republicans immediately fired back, with the RNC issuing a statement on the ad saying “NARAL’s ad is a deliberate misrepresentation of the facts that has no purpose but to mislead the American people.” The RNC then claimed intellectual property rights to the factually devoid, tasteless smear campaign, citing their election 2004 Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

I've published HoT along with about 300+ friends since 2002. We're all Americans who are snarky and love our country. I'm a libertarian that registered Republican because I like to win elections. That's pretty much it.
