America’s Tangling Alliance With Pakistan

MusharrafIt’s time to ditch Pakistan, that’s the word from rational folks. President Pervez Musharraf has now decided that he will once again break his own promise to allow democratic elections for president to take place and will continue to head both the government and the military. The man is a dictator, straight up, and the US government has been sending him billions of dollars and large amounts of military aid while putting up with his shit because… well because he’s let us use a few bases. Whoop-de-fuckin-doo, excuse me if I don’t pass out candy to the neo-conservative kids dancing in the street.

Fact is, that’s pretty much the only thing we’ve gotten from him. Our troops are not allowed to patrol the Pak-Afghan border to hunt down Osama Bin Laden, he’s repeatedly attacked his own people and civilians in the Waziristan province — calling them terrorists and using US military aid to effectively eradicate dissidents, and his military intelligence service is pretty much made up of a fifth column of Taliban and Al Qaida sympathizers. Sound like a guy we should call the numero uno ally in the “War on Terror?”

No, this guy is a menace and and impetus to our war against Al Qaida, and it’s time to drop-kick this bastard off our payroll and back to tin-pot dictator status he’s been working towards. This is a prime example of why the world views America as hypocritical: We invade and depose a dictator with dubious connections to terrorists in Iraq, while we prop up and support another dictator in Pakistan with known connections and, shocker, actual nuclear weapons. Add in the news that OBL got the okay from muslim clerics to nuke the US, and we have a bad fucking situation boiling over in Pakistan. But does this make politician’s heads turn?

Of course not, they’re too busy waving little flags at the funeral ceremonies of dead Americans coming back from Iraq. Well fuck that noise, I say it’s time we kicked Musharraf to the curb and cut ties with his tyrannical regime. Then we need to get back to work on kicking some Al Qaeda ass in Afghanistan and Pakistan and stop piddling around in the bullshit mess of a war we made in Iraq.

I've published HoT along with about 300+ friends since 2002. We're all Americans who are snarky and love our country. I'm a libertarian that registered Republican because I like to win elections. That's pretty much it.

  1. Pakistan is a rogue nation and if the present regime is gone and if taken over by muslim hardliners then us wil have a serious threat from nuclear weapons . I don know why the us is searching for terrorists here and there . When all the terrorists are in pakistan having a good time . Giving a good work to their sadistic evil minds. If pakistan is bombed and cleaned i think the world would be much better place to live
