In a long-awaited step forward for marriage equality for all Americans, President Obama has decided to stop defending the constitutionality of the “Defense of Marriage Act,” a discriminatory piece of legislation designed to deny marital rights to same-sex couples.
Attorney General Eric Holder informed Congress that he and President Obama have taken the position that the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) should be struck down as unconstitutional, as a violation of same-sex couples’ right to equal protection.
But right on cue, up pops John Boehner, ready to rise to the occasion to lead the fight for the forces of discrimination and hate:
Speaker John Boehner is ready to take on the White House over the Defense of Marriage Act, pledging to force the issue in the House…”I’d be very surprised if the House didn’t decide that they were going to defend the law,” Boehner said.
So two months into his Speakership, he STILL doesn’t have a real jobs plan, but…he’s got plenty of time to fight for hate?
Well, we’ve got a message of our own for Boehner: Do your job. Stop defending DOMA and discrimination, stop coddling a small, hateful segment of your base, and focus on creating jobs — the thing you whined about for years before becoming Speaker.
Write Boehner today, tell him “Jobs not hate,” and tell him to FINALLY do his job.
Sisters and Brothers in Tahrir Square,
Sisters and Brothers of Egypt.
We wish we could be there with you and everywhere else where human beings are faced with repression, fear, violence and suffering at the hands of their governments. Our thoughts, prayers, and minds are with you. The courage you demonstrate in your struggle is a lesson to us all. The world is behind you. Whilst we cannot be with you in the flesh and blood to suffer as you do, we want to make sure you know that you are not alone.
Rest assured your fight is not in vain. Your President has shown the world his true face today. President Mubarak might have his law behind him, but there is something above all laws: Truth. Your truth has been suppressed for far too long, beaten into the ground through the use of secret police, torture, and many similarly deplorable tactics that we are witnessing today at the Tahrir Square and all over Egypt. But nothing can quell your voice, not any more, and certainly not Mubarak and his gang for hire.
You demonstrated your power today standing your ground against the thugs of Mubarak. Of course, you don’t know what the future will be, but you know what it should be. You demonstrated your resolve in Tahrir square and in all the streets of Egypt, and if you were able to stand your ground today you will be able to stand your ground tomorrow, and the day after that. On Friday you will march, and there will be no one able to stop you. As you stand united, you are sending a message to all who would seek to rob your country through corruption.
The rest of the world follows the events in Egypt with great hope. The Arab world is showing all citizens the strength and the value of what Mankind really is about. While our governments hesitate to show solid support for your actions, know that your sisters and brothers in the digital world stand beside you in that square. We will never leave you behind, we are here for you.
Your voice is being heard. Today you are not only fighting for Egypt. You are fighting for all of Mankind. And Mankind sides with you. We are you, you are us. Together we are Anonymous.
We are Anonymous.
We are Legion.
We do not forgive.
We do not forget.
We love you.
A message for the citizens of Egypt:
We are Anonymous and we stand by your side, as you stand against the reign of Hosni Mubarak.
While the internet and other forms of communication may be cut off, Anonymous’ knowledge and awareness of the issues at hand are as strong as ever. The grievous error by your dictator to cut off vital communications systems is one that cannot be overlooked.
In Hosni Mubarak’s recent address, he stated his apparent concern for your freedoms and plans to implement a new government in the coming days. If any of his recent actions, and those of the last three decades, are any indication, he cares little for your welfare. He cares not for your suffering and hardship, but only his own power. He is concerned more with the safety of his political cabinet, and less with yours. He does not have the best interests of the Egyptian people in mind, but rather his own. A new government will only be his way of feigning progress. He is promising the democracy for which you have been fighting, but offers only lies. Do not yield to his tactics. Push on. You, more than anyone else in this world, know that Hosni Mubarak must leave. The first step on the road to a brighter future for Egypt is for Mubarak to step down, not to pass the blame, not to offer empty promises, and not to appeal to the people of Egypt. Again, Mubarak’s reign must end.
Although the future of Egypt is still uncertain, do not grow hesitant or fearful about what lies ahead, for achieving independence and freedom will require unwavering courage. This is a war of attrition and will not be won overnight. You have already accomplished a great thing – you have captured the world’s attention and earned their support for your efforts. You have weakened the authoritarian forces that have oppressed you for decades. You have set the standard for resilience and conviction in your beliefs in this day and age. We stand in awe of your courage. Your spirit is an inspiration to us all.
Anon has witnessed time and time again that when we stand together we can take on anything and anyone. Dictators such as Mubarak still rely on the fear of the individual being stronger than the power of the group. However, the evidence shows that the tyrant is more afraid than the courageous citizens. The proof lies in the cowardly act of shutting people off from one another in an attempt to cause chaos and confusion. This is a blatant violation of another one of your rights. Anon contends that the rights we share are intrinsic; they overshadow unique concerns and bring freedom in their exercise. Mubarak cannot own your rights.
The land of Egypt, once the world’s beacon of knowledge, now stands upon the global stage in its courageous effort for freedom and democracy. We and the world are behind you, and stand with you. We will do everything in our power to aid you in your pursuit. All we ask is that you stay strong, and keep fighting.
Anon would also like to extend its support to all the citizens of the world who are trapped by a dictator, and anyone whose freedom of speech is compromised by any government or organisation. If you need us, we are already standing by your side.
In the meantime, we demand that all normal communications be restored to the people of Egypt by January 29th, 12:00 midnight, Eastern Standard Time. That we have occasion to make such a demand in the first place should be enough to convince all good men that the world needs revolution. That we have made it in full view of all men should be enough to convince them that we now have the means to back it up – not just against this regime, but against any and all parties that continue to prop it up even after it has conceded that the truth is its enemy.
Above all, we once again ask the people of North Africa to remain hopeful and persevere in their stand against tyranny. Do not forgive and do not forget. Expect change.

Dear citizens of the internet,
These last few days, lots of us have been using the Low Orbit Ion Canon – or LOIC – to attack the websites of those who have undertaken action to prevent Wikileaks from operating properly.
While this certainly helped us to raise public awareness for ourselves – ANONYMOUS, Wikileaks and the battle for the free flow of information; all this remained indeed rather innocent.
Although it has sent a strong message to anyone to better think twice before messing with Wikileaks, it nevertheless poses no real threat whatsoever to those who are in power.
That is why ANONYMOUS has decided to launch a new campaign under the banner of ‘Operation Leakspin’.
The idea is actually pretty simple:
Go to Wikileaks and research the leaked cables you heard so much talk about in the media these last few weeks. Then spread this information.
Lots of these cables have not been properly studied or published yet.
We, ANONYMOUS, the people, will take this work on our shoulders.
We, ANONYMOUS, the people, will spread the actual content of these cables anywhere we can, until all the world will know about the injustices perpetrated upon the people by governments worldwide.
Please – do the same and get involved!
Help us win this war!
Download, share, produce – be free!
Because YOU are ANONYMOUS!
We are ANONYMOUS!
We are legion!
We do not forgive!
We do not forget!
KNOWLEDGE IS FREE!

The international pressure on Julian Assange increased today after the banking arm of the Swiss post office announced that it had closed the WikiLeaks founder’s account because he had given “false information”.
“PostFinance has ended its business relationship with … Julian Paul Assange,” the bank said in a statement.
“The Australian citizen provided false information regarding his place of residence during the account opening process.”
It said that although Assange had given his residence as an undisclosed address in Geneva, he could offer no proof of being a Swiss resident.
WikiLeaks had advertised the PostFinance account details online to “donate directly to the Julian Assange and other WikiLeaks Staff Defence Fund,” giving an account name of “Assange Julian Paul, Geneve”.
A spokesman for the bank told the Associated Press the account was closed this afternoon, but added that there would be “no criminal consequences” for misleading authorities.
“That’s his money, he will get his money back,” he said. “We just close the account and that’s it.”
PostFinance is the latest institution to sever its ties with Assange and WikiLeaks. Last week, Amazon.com withdrew its hosting of WikiLeaks’ cables site and the WikiLeaks.org domain was taken offline by Everydns.net. On Saturday, PayPal, which is owned by the auction website eBay, froze WikiLeaks’ account, saying it was being used for “illegal” activity.
It was also reported this afternoon that Scotland Yard had received the paperwork required to arrest Assange over allegations of sexual assault in Sweden.
But the Metropolitan police declined to comment on the claim, attributed by Press Association to unnamed sources.
Swedish prosecutors have sent an international arrest warrant to the Met, seeking the extradition of Assange for questioning on allegations — which he strongly denies — of rape, sexual molestation and unlawful coercion.
Jennifer Robinson, one of his lawyers, said his legal team had heard nothing from the police to suggest that their client’s arrest was imminent.
Assange, who is staying in Britain, has come under criticism from politicians in the US and around the world after his site started publishing excerpts from a cache of more than 250,000 secret US diplomatic cables last week.
Another of Assange’s lawyers, Mark Stephens, yesterday denounced the extradition warrant as a “political stunt” and said his client would fight deportation to Sweden on the grounds that it could lead to him being handed over to the US, where senior politicians have called for him to be executed.
NOTE: Pay no heed to the destractions and deplorable dramatics of the despotic dubmasses.
Someone should illustrate this (Lee, looking your way dude):
I do not like green eggs and ham;
I do not like unlawful bans
of our guns and civil rights,
when defending homes, when taking flights.
You send young men to die in wars,
while abandoning our local shores.
When in times of great recession,
our wage suffers from depression;
But every year yours go up,
it is sure you’ll get your cut.
Your love is money and the power,
to steal from people, make them cower.
You’re spreading fear and telling lies,
but some see through your thin disguise.
You pass bad laws, you insert pork,
you don’t dispute a farce in court.
Hopefully it won’t be long,
till you are housed where you belong.
It’s in a building called a prison;
So I hope to this you listen.
The government our fathers picked,
was a constitutional republic.
The mandate was for hope and freedom,
the plan was that we could keep them.
They wrote and signed the Constitution,
you’ve left it in destitution.
This is no democracy;
This is a hypocrisy.
Blood was shed to make this place,
and now you’ve made it a disgrace.
You are raping our great land,
I do not like you Uncle Sam.

Our handsome president himself, as he apparently took blame for not actually changing the tone in Washington:
“I neglected some things that matter a lot to people, and rightly so: maintaining a bipartisan tone in Washington”
Obama is such a phoney. He’s going to act like a leader… oh wait… he *says* he’s going to act like a leader …and he’s gonna do this… and he’s gonna do that. He says kick out the lobbyist, but oops… they are already crawling all over the WH.
Creating a new tone in Washington was a central theme that ran throughout Mr. Obama’s campaign for the presidency.
In his announcement speech in Illinois in 2007, Mr. Obama lamented that “too many times, after the election is over, and the confetti is swept away, all those promises fade from memory, and the lobbyists and the special interests move in, and people turn away, disappointed as before, left to struggle on their own.”
Face it… Barry’s executive branch is just as shady as Dubya’s and now he’s back to selling the snake oil to the press, who will catapult these lofty new promises of hope and change (through him personally, of course) to the masses. Quite a neat trick.
“Making sure that the policy decisions that I made were fully debated with the American people and that I was getting out of Washington and spending more time shaping public opinion and being in a conversation with the American people about why I was making the choices I was making.”
If he were to truly act in a manner the people wanted, he would begin by firing The Bernanke and appointing a public auditor to The Fed.
ALL BLOCKQUOTES RIPPED FROM THIS ASS-KISSING WAPO ARTICLE. COMMENT THERE.
UNDERSTAND THE FUCKING CONTEXT, UNDERSTAND THE FUCKING CRIMINALS.
Enjoy the face-saving campaign. I hope he stays the fuck away from my city (it fouls up traffic).
I am hereby christening the day after every election Don’t Give A Fuck Day.. I’m not sure if this is acceptable internet procedure, but you’ll excuse me if I simply don’t give a fuck. For those of you who are truly dedicated, you are free to treat yourself to a whole Don’t Give A Fuck Week after the election, but too much not giving a fuck is bad for your health and sanity.
Speaking of sanity, the rally in DC was simply too soon. I think everyone had this idea it was supposed to transform us in some magical way into a world where elections and mass gatherings are the antidote to stupidity, when we should probably realize how little those things actually mean on a day to day basis.
One of my saddest losses in the election was seeing Prop19 get defeated… then I smoked a bowl and forgot to give a fuck.
Some of you are probably going to read a lot into my intentions here with this announcement, and think I’m being political. But I’m actually being rather apolitical, because I promise you… right now on this day I have gladly assumed in the great name of Anonymous… (whether you like it or not) I just don’t give a fuck.
