And that explains entirely why the Libertarian Party is desperately needed in American politics today. The LP invigorates the political system with new ideas for liberty. Years later the GOP picks them up and runs with them.
No different from the Socialist Party of the 1930s inserting their big government agenda into the Democrat Party. The Democrats’ platform of today is virtually indistinguishable from the Socialists and Communists of the 1930s and 40s.
Those who say that the Libertarian Party is worthless in American politics, and that we need to disband the Party, are barking up the wrong tree. Without the Libertarian Party there’d be no stick in the proverbial carrot and stick. The LP acts as the GOP’s stick (prodding them along towards liberty). And that’s a good thing!
